Went to meet up with Zhong Xuan for dinner at Bugis and decided to try this new place out. He wanted to go Creation at first but we both think its not open on Sunday and then we went Clarity and it was closed too.

So went to Bugis and told him got a new place and we decided to check it out for the pasta and it was pretty good.

I ordered some Seafood Avocado Carbonara Fettuccine and ZX ordered some Meatball Pasta and both were good. Very strong flavour. Very creamy and cheesy for mine. The seafood was fresh too. And ZX's Mocha was very strong.

But we were not full and decided to order their thin crust pizza which was really ultra thin but nice. Not filling though.

In the end I spend about $25. Need to add in 7% GST and 10% service charge. They took quite some time to serve our pasta maybe coz they were busy? But they looked a little messy. We were just sitting beside the counter. Service was not bad though. They provide a small plate to put my clam shells on.

We plan to go back again to try more pasta.

Today see the two new AE at the morning passdown meeting and Suan Neng came to teach people how to make Aug scan j/f and Julia is back.

And very little alarm and lots to clear for me.... and they went for lunch and left me alone in the line lol and they rushing some lot and I cant do...

Then this hot lot? Lexar? had to rework two wafers in one lot..

Went to eat at fab 2 with one of the specialist and the lot start with EAE lol 20303?

Today got department meeting and then supposed to meet up with James and the rest at Orchard but Julia got some bf problems...

Delifrance food for refreshments.

Some big changes coming to the department and CSP that I don't care about...

Then got some letter at the meeting. Some money for the PAE.

And Julia drove me home. Really weird to type on her touchscreen phone.

Lots of things happen in one day and I was really tired and dun need I can recall everything.

And Friday Suan neng came and yin min made j/f and taught the new guy and Yin Min how to do PRS....

Went out to Woodlands for lunch and can't find Raymond. Keep walking around with my plate of nasi lemak and The masking people saw us looking for each other and walking around and were laughing.

And barely managed to catch the bus to go home. Had to run really fast.

Crazy week at work

This week work with bejoy and then moh moh and suan neng. nice to have a change of shift culture

and caught the bus on fri but missed it on sat.

And lots of aug scan becoz of one machine... abnormal bondpads... thanks to cloud...

Drive out with moh moh and suan neng to eat.

and Raymond knows I wanna go and told me about his job in his homeland while eating breakfast at burger king at woodlands. Suan neng drive us there after work.

And leg kanna caught by the bus door when going OT on Sunday... Damn painful and went there and did the last aug scan. Was late and overslept that day. and aetch got down to two pages and it was bloody quiet for 1 hour... but then some cu tel fail p/c and had to pull back and we got six pages by morning....

Sat night/sun morning : Raymond took mc and only me and Bejoy working... And we both went out for supper and I had mee goreng and milo shake and the shake was really heavy but good and James called Bejoy to tell him that they were clubbing at St James.

And went OT on Sunday with B Shift and we all went out again for supper. I overslept that day and reached the company about 10pm. and anyway we went to eat with Carol? the TA? and Chai the ME was in that shift and saw lots of specialist from my shift... anyway we went out to eat and I ordered oyster omelette and James ordered some shells thing which I tried for the first time. Not bad. Bejoy keep teasing Carol and we saw Chai when we went back to the company carpark.

And there was some fire drill this week and went out to the carpark in smock?

And then they showing LOTR on TV this week but I cant watch... haiz no anime too

Tiring work and busy day and Alvin went for long leave on USA and he knows I wanna leave..

Heavy rain and catch the bus and then went home late again. and miss some talk session by the GP?

and more and more ppl know I leaving soon and had a talk with suan neng and moh moh

and they got handphone for the shift leader.

Went out with James to go eat when he came OT and he brought his Nikon SLR.

Some big event at work about aborting...Hazel. Haiz. I wanna go.

16 June 2008 - Monday going OT and woke up early and watering the plants and saw a cat. but it was so scare when it saw me walking to it from a distance and ran away

Watched Monster, the last episode on Internet. It was good. interesting ending and they found the mother of the twins

Second PAE Meeting and meet friends

Went back to Chartered for the meeting and realised I forgot to bring my pass. And went up and told Amy some stuff and they ordered pizza and some chicken wings and the meeting ended about 8.30pm and we all run to take the bus and I called ZX and he happened to be in the area with Guo Wei. And they were in Guo Wei's car.

So went Woodlands MRT to meet them and then went Sengkang to take ZX car and we went to fetch Darius and then met Amos at Toa Payoh Bus Interchange after his maths bridging course for uni. And we went Thomson to eat Bak Chor Mee and it was not bad with prawn and fried wanton. Quite a lot of people there. Darius did not eat much he is starting slacking and gambling and watching F1 lol. Amos going for his studies overseas soon. ZX dun feel like studying.

Left the place about midnight. Then went to 7 Eleven and see they selling the Mineshine milk tea for 4 dollars for 3 bottles and I immediately grab.

Then ZX drove us home. Was quite late

First week of Night Shift

Missed all my anime nights. And first week without Thet Thet.

And missed the first bus to work and had to take a cab... 24 dollars.

And first week doing Cu Tel... without much help...

Then James said he gonna quit and that kinda helped made up my mind. And we all went out for supper when James came OT and he drove us out. And then morning after work he drove me to Clementi and I saw my RI juniors, Ian and Kah Kang.

And last day of the shift and finally managed to take the company bus home... And had a headache and had to passed down some KLA scan request to Gil to catch the bus.

And went to eat breakfast at Long John Silvers and spill a cup of tea..

And Bejoy told me about his marriage and his overseas call hand phone bill when we went out to eat at night.

Went home and slept and slept all the way till monday...

Was catching up on my anime at home on some video websites and remembered Monster Rancher, miss that anime.

Friday and Sat on first week of shift

Friday PRS was pretty manageable and the new gal from ssmc was helping me. she really crash into the stocker and read a wrong id but she's good at Mattson.

Then bring her outside to eat at 2pm and then went back to the line by myself. Did some FI and Julia wanted to me to go j/f on flm but I had to go out and take a shit just when she came in and I forgot to bring my notes so she did it anyway.

Mike's NYP IA student did dun get how to write macro.

Sat and Labour day was pretty peaceful and slow since not a lot of engineers around.

First week of shift and first day of PRS was damn crazy.

Watch Azumanga Daioh and they talk about growing up, working and marrying. When I was young, I cant imagine growing up but now i am working.

Sometimes when I was young, I wish I could die early so I only have happy memories but if i can been dead. I wont have this blog and watch Azumanga and experience sadness and happy and wont be writing his now.

And today was Labour day and the office was quiet. Yawn

Went back RI to get the book, CD cartridge and candles and they had no training but swimming carnival and some house events going on and they were in the robotic lab playing assassin's creed... LOL Joshua discovered he can jump in the game lol. And they dunwanna go home and kept playing games and Kah Kang went for Chinese orchestra and left his laptop behind and we had to wait for him to lock up and they had a competition the next day. Splash Awards. and Zewei watched Mythbuster on his laptop as we walk to MRT...

Ate dinner with Kah Kang at the Bishan Hong Kong Cafe and it was lousy and long queue and messed up the previous customer order and they nearly serve us $30 worth of food free lol. Good thing we are honest and I treat KK a bit. He like literature and Shakespeare.

Was watching Monster that night and there was a "beep" in monster? bad word? Some old detective who was gonna retire that day escorted a criminal who are taking orders from Johan and reminded him of the case of the missing twins from the hospital.

Met up with them at Bugis arcade first. Then went to Shaw Tower vegetarian place to eat and then went to play pool and Chris went home first and we went to Ah Chew dessert.

Then also talked to this other lady who met during orientation. Realized they are the two ladies holding my hand for that hula hoop game.

Went to Sim Lim to buy my hard disk casing and hard disk. and then Chris was damn late and Zhong Xuan and Darius was at some F-1 event at Padang and we met up at Burger King. But then I suggested to go Long John Silver. LOL Potato Salad?

BTW Chris came and ZX told him I got a job and he act like damn surprised and going on and on with ZX that I was some floor manager and made me dulan and I walked out.

Was walking past KFC and saw Alan Ngoh.

Then Chris called me and offered to buy me potato salad, I was actually gonna go to Liang Seah Street and eat liao. So went back and the queue was long and the manager was trying to man two counters by himself.

LJS potato salad got pineapple? And Chris never lose his phone yet and I told him that Darius go to Genting alone to gamble...

I think by the time Chris went home, he still dunno what job I got.

Chris got some assembly program to write and I tried to give him some advice. Talked to him a while at MRT station.

Celebrate Birthday 2008 with friends and Beow Puke

Saw Kian Hai from primary school who went to Cat High at Boon Lay MRT station.

Met Khim Hui and Xin Da to have lunch. Had some pizza. The cheese burger pizza was very nice. Walked around and look at games and then sat at MOS Burger and Wei Cong came to meet up.

Then went to Braddell meet Jingtian, Beow Qi Zhao and Xinyan.

Jingtian birthday in July and Xinyan on October 31.

I tried the soup from Botak Jones but it was ok only. and the serving so small... And then tried the pasta from another store. Carbonara and it was not bad.

Then Jingtian ordered Margarita and Beow drank too fast and his face went all red.... Sat there for quite long and talked about game studios and getting a bit high on alcohol. JT and Xinyan both a bit red. Sat there until the ice melt and I went to get more ice and another glass with salt.

Then we decided to walk to J8 to walk off the alcohol and Beow puke....

We walk round J8 and bought some normal drinks and Xinyan was afraid his mom will scold lol becoz he is neck is red. Bought some normal drinks and Beow got some sweets.

And Xinyan and Beow made me guess what they getting me. At first I thought some computer stuff becoz they were at Sim Lim when I called them. But turns out they just gave me $50. They were thinking of getting me earphones but Beow know that I would buy some fierce headset lol so no point.

Friday : 1-5 piss up at Changi Chalet there. Went straight there after work and took a bus from Tampines Interchange. Great to see them again, Encik Wong, Master Lee Weng Chew. Ben Chua's son like to scream. Chee Wee and Tan GK and Wei De too. Encik Kwan too.

They gambling money lol and talk to the NSF and they still the same. Talk about 3 Kingdoms with some of them Popeye interested in my job.

Took CPT Ong S P car to Aljunied. Just happened that we were leaving at the same time. He ask me questions about how I feel about the squadron. Turns out he enlisted about same time as my bro and might know him.

Thanks to SP Ong, was able to make it home on time for my anime. Saw some domokun ending credits on arts central.

Went Braddell to meet Darius and ZX and ate ribeye steak at Botak Jones. Damn nice.

Then we went McDonalds at AMK there. Near the library. The place had a drive-thru and a carpark and we had drinks. I had a chocolate ice blend thing. Sat outside in a outdoor area and it was nice. See those big head ants on the floor that look like ants from SQCP.

Then we drive back becoz tmw we have to work. Actually only me and ZX. And at Braddell junction near RI, ZX nearly bang another car. Some scratch on the other guy bumper and Zhong Xuan car plate a but bend. The guy said he some driving instrutor and keep asking if ZX just got his license.

Popeye ask me to their 1-5 piss up and Xinyan said he going for some happy hour with his new unit got a bit drunk???

First Day in Fab Cleanroom

Wed : Morning sleep a bit later and took MRT and then bus to work. No more Malaysia lorry jam

Just arrived at the classroom on time at 9am. Working By Values?

And ate yucky hotplate spaghetti at Fab 2 Cafeteria. Then walked to CSP and it rained damn heavy and the few of us were waiting at the lobby till 2pm... Was there at 1.30pm already.

Went up and met AA and supervisor and went to the cleanroom and walked around. And read some brain cell killing stuff.

Saw a Prius on the road.

Saw fire engine at the company and I think it was a drill. Some SCDF ppl in hazmat suits.

Saw Cheng hoe from my poly class while waiting in the lobby for my bus.

Some game during the orientation involve holding hands and hula hoops. Quite funny. esp the part with two hoops.

Sunday : We were supposed to meet at 1pm at Braddell but Xinyan got some shit. Then change to City Hall at 2pm but I was playing Dragon Court and it rained and Beow was at my home and we only left my house at about 2.15am. Made Jon and Kenneth wait.

Met John and Kenneth. I had waffles at Raffles City and they had crepe for lunch. It was already about 3pm. The stores in the central part of the mall was built. Beow was thinking whether to get PSP or Macbook Pro and Kenneth want MBP also

Then Xinyan still cant come even after we finish eating. Took a pic at the Bronze Bras Basah RI model.

Then Beow had to go off and we went army market becoz Kenneth need to buy some stuff for India exercise. And then they come my house and John play CS source. Then Xinyan finally came about 7pm. Came straight up to my house and then we went to eat western downstairs. John need to buy some food for mother. Kenneth need to go his house NTUC buy stuff and XY had to book in tmw. Then happen to meet John at the MRT just after seeing XY off

Met up with Kenneth and their friend. Some Matthew guy from BMTC. sia lan face? Took quite long for the bus to come and quite crowded and not aircon and then had to cross the busy road...

Took a bus to the parade square and it was getting full but I managed to snake my way to the other side and saw Wei cong there. The parade was as usual and Was not really impressed lol since I watch before and SAF is all wayang and lol they singing some chinese song. Wei Cong say their first stop was sucky.

Lots of foreign cadets from Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei? and even UK?

Saw Clarence and even Jem Goh. Jem said Jason was somewhere nearby. And saw Xinyan's sis!

Ate at the buffet there with Kenneth. Oneh Oneh dessert. Yummy. Now they have outside ppl guarding the way to the buffet lol. Tried some mango tea thing in the vending machine with Kenneth.

Saw Clement from 144 at in the bus. Said some friend of his commission too. Saw a A4 and some lighted walkway and he commented how come OCS got runway lol.

Ya I agree. The guy who designed OCS has a thing for detail and lighting.

Then later went supper with zx and Amos. Ate a lot. $5 oyster omelette all by myself and dry Bak Chor Mee. Soup is better.

Then went KAtong and buy some choco pudding and then drive around Geylang.

Rained damn heavy that day and had urine test and the doctor took a few painful tries to get blood out of my veins and then had to go for a x-ray at Marsiling.

And it rained like shit that day and I was talking to zhong xuan on the phone and thought the rain was getting smaller but halfway walking to the bus stop, the rain suddenly got damn heavy all of a sudden and there was no shelter. So I ran all the way to the bus stop and was completely drenched. A kind aunt at the bus stop gave me some tissue to wipe off some water. She said she working at some noodle store at which canteen? Cant remember. Was damn cold and shirt was still wet when taking x-ray.

Saw some roasted meat store with lots of certificates and awards at a coffee shop and tried the wanton mee and it was nice and only $3?

Then went to meet ZX at sim lim. He wanted to buy hard disk and then we saw Inderjit and he was looking for a metal stylus. He say always break his plastic ones...

Anyway today went to the Singapore Flyer. Took a cab there was I was late and dun wanna miss the ride... About 5 dollars and the driver dun even know its open already.

Went there and see the usual RI/RJC guys.

Lots of people and students and prizes being given out. And talked to ACS teacher in charge and Nan chiau too but then I nearly missed my ride and did not eat anything becoz of that.... Just great...

The ride had a great view was the sky was not very bright and so had to shoot at ISO 800 on the 1D. One cat high kid asked if I was a professional.... No flash haha.

Then walked with Kah Kang, indian guy and yong kiam to the MRT thru the Esplanade. Keep teasing Kah Kang about girls and they told me about Bishan gay still there and Mr Fong left RI?? And this art exhibit of a player behind the glass laughing...??? And they keep asking me to go their Chinese orchestra concert.

Lots of people at the MRT and saw Manek with the huge stupid looking cheque....

Singapore Airshow 2008

23 Feb 2008 Sat : I wanna shoot email.... The queue at Pasir Ris MRT was fucking long. It was ridiculous. I took a bus to somewhere near the SAF Jetty and it was still a bloody long walk... Gave up and took a cab and even that took a long time.... I had to switch roads, walk up and down and nearly called a cab. Only saw the A380 and this stunt team with propeller planes. This cute baby with mom and dad and they dont look local on the bus.

Meet Beow there and he came from his kicking practice and Tampines and reach there earlier although I set out earlier... He took a cab and managed to catch a but of the show... That idiot brought a rubber knife and kanna stop at security check.

Walking around Beow's tank and saw Kenneth Lim from 144.

Saw F-35 and my fav B-1B and also Global Hawk and Firescout.

Then at the RSAF part saw Timothy Ang at the UAV.

Took pics of A380 with its huge engines and loud GPU

And the ice cream and drinks there are expensive and lots of rubbish on the floor. About three times more expensive.

Saw Bo Han at the indoor area with some 149 guys.

Saw a RI junior. Hius name is Andy? thought I saw him at Pasir Ris MRT anyway and they had free tickets...

And when it was closing time. Me and Beow sat at some stands to wait till the crowd die down a bit and the sea breeze was strong and a few drops of water came from the sky but never rain. The crowd was still a little crazy when we left. They had policeman to guard the small bridge across the water. In the end, we decided to take the paid bus that go to Marina Square directly and ther was this kid joker on the bus keep talking to us and say he kanna bluff money to get on the bus, haha "pirate ship" in chinese saying. LOL wanted him two bucks but he gave it back and his friends wanna beat him up. The ticket cost us $5

Then me and Beow was tired and he was damn hungry becoz he only ate breakfast and then went kicking and we had Carl's Junior. Portobello Burger. Damn nice. Juicy. Had lots of drinks and got damn full. I had waffle fries and Beow had onion rings for sides.

Then we walk to Sim Lim Square. Beow wanted to find these portable speakers from some Singapore company. The shops were closing but I went to the top floor iPod shop and found it. But it had internal rechargeable batteries that cant be taken out. Quite loud and it charges the internal battery thru USB.

Job Interview and First Time At Ang Mo Kio Hub

Morning went to Jurong East there for interview and it was ok. Had to troubleshoot some thing and took me a bit longer than I like but the guy say I smart? BTW some China boss. thats not gonna be good.

BTW heard this joke on the radio while at the mrt station about a bird flying happily in the air and then kanna frozen and landed on a field and then a cow shit on it and help to defrost it but then it started to sing and then a cat came and dug it out of the shit and ate it.

So the moral of the story is that not everyone who shit on you is your enemy and not everyone who get you out of shit is your friend. and finally keep quiet when u r in deep shit. lol

Then took the long mrt journey all the way to Bishan and saw a mother breast feeding on the train. The kid had golden hair. but mom looked asian.

Went to RI as it was friday and as usual my junior make me wanna kill them. Taught them some hardware stuff. And shuwen found a thumbdrive at the toilet. Went to the hall to talk a while to Mrs Tan and then went to AMK to meet beow and it started to drizzle and I did not realise there is a underpass from mrt to AMK hub. And Beow was buying a first aid kit.

Walked around the place and went to the food court and Beow saw his neighbour and then saw the Justin guy from RV chalet last time. The guy who like wushu. And then Beow throw a stunt at me that he forgot he got driving lesson at 7.30pm... and it was 7pm and he suddenly remember and had to go and pass his KM SLR to me....

So ate with the other two guys and talked about their ns stuff and how come the ACS guy with the english accent is at the army museum. He is a swimmer and his feet arch collapse or something. And then they went to sit at some place and talk and I talked about the place and ate milk ice shaving for dessert. And walk round Fairprice Xtra.. and saw Mr. Bean shop. And it rained quite heavily. Think I saw the two guys at Anderson's ice cream.

Then draw money from ATM and someone tap me from behind and it was Marvin, the driver from 144. But he had to go and just say hello to me.

Went home and was quite tired and watched D Gray man. The anime is incredibly good at drag and took one whole episode for Allen to enter the portal to the Ark....

Chinese New Year 2008

Did not sleep really well and brother's friends came over for reunion dinner and the whole night the lights in the living room was on and I slept only a little. The dinner was kimchi soup and it was really spicy.

And damn Singnet broadband was down and they came to fix it around noon and my relatives were already here...

This year CNY was quite normal. Relatives visit. Ate a lot of stuff and soft drinks and sweets, chocolates and tidbits.

Lots of the kids have gotten old and one of the gal cousin from father side use my Internet to check Friendster for damn long and pissed all the guys cousins off... We wanted to play CS.

Wanted to visit some old friends at Seng Kang but slept too much.

Helped my mother with the cooking this time.

And no kids staying overnight to play games on my computer this year only Ah Hao came alone.

As usual went my grandma house and my youngest uncle got two dogs.

And had a few drinks hehe. My chivas.

Of course lots of Hong Baos. Cousins getting older and cant bully as much. Haha reminded Yu feng and Zhen yin what their nicknames were. haha.

Turn it off and on and the DSL was down and called Singnet support and they arranged a line check on CNY first day and a malay guy came and explained to me that they fuck up my line from the exchange...

Visiting Mrs Tan and My Bro's office and CNY Shopping

Fri : Went to visit Mrs Tan Mui Hong and Infocomm Club. Was raffles trail. Rained quite heavy and was thinking of not going. LOL ask the kids about weed. The hall and canteen has changed a lot. Saw Mrs Tan at her badminton training an the coach is crazy. Mrs Tan car getting bigger and she asked me for help about her printer. Walked around J8 and ate scallop noodles from the Taiwan shi lin store.

And saw this cat high guy who looks like someone from a pro cat high photographer.

Went to bro's Geylang office and ate curry rice and saw some drunk people and disco and bengs and shouting yelling and fighting? Tried fried smelly tofu too.

Monday : Went Chinese New Year shopping with my mom at Carrefour.

This part only added on 19 Feb 2008 Tues at 6.16am but I already forgot when this happened exactly. Probably circa 5/6 Feb 2008 : Also went to Sim Lim area to buy stuff for the steamboat at the Korean food shop nearby and bought some chili powder and chili paste. Saw Wee Kiat walking back from Sim Lim on the way there and talked to him.

Also forgot when this happened but I wrote it down. I saw a Ferrari that day.

My name is Hung Le, and  I'm a  former cub Scout, boy Scout,
venturer, rover Scout and Scouter of BSVN (Boy Scout of Vietnam).
Currently,  I'm  with  the  Santa Clara County Council, BSA
as a unit commissioner.

I would like share with all fellow Scouts out there on  the  Net-
work some personal experiences that I have had with the Scout or-
ganizations, especially with the BSVN. These experiences  are  so
valuable  to my life and my children as well... When I joined the
Boy Scouts of Vietnam, my country was  torn  apart  by  the  war.
Everywhere  I  went, there were always fighting leftovers. It was
dangerous to travel, abeit going camping, but even so, we managed
to  have  wonderful  times,  troop  leaders were very creative in
finding places for kids to camp,  to  have  a  meeting  location.
Scout  meeting  was  always  outdoors,  in the open air. A lot of
times we went camping without a Scoutmaster because of the  mili-
tary  draft. During my 6 years as a boy Scout, I had three Scout-
masters and their average age was about 19 years old.

I remember taking my Panther patrol (yes, a Blank Panther), on  a
trek  to a remote waterfall. Each member had to be separated by a
distant of 10 meters, so that a bobby trap grenade would not  de-
cimate  the whole patrol. I learned valuable survival skills from
the boy Scouts, during the war, not only to help myself, but help
to  my family and other beings as well. Beside learning knots and
semaphores, we also learned camouflaging, how to recognize  booby
traps, different type of ordnance (by default), and servicing re-
fugee camps.  Servicing refugee camps was a constant activity for
the  troops and the posts. Sometimes the pack would chip in their
help in making greeting lines for some big  shots  who  come  and
visited  refugee  camps. During the Tet offensive of 1968, my ex-
plorer post managed a makeshift refugee camp  in  Dalat  province
for  more than 3 months. This included security for people in the
camp (A lot of problems came from rowdy bands of government  sol-
diers trying to intimidate the female refugees, but when they saw
the Scouts, they thought another military unit was  handling  the
refugee  camp). This also included searching for food (mostly, by
contacting GI units and the government in the area) for refugees.
Sanitation  was  always  the  biggest task of the day: Talk about
cleaning the out-houses for refugees!!!  At  times  we  organized
'dare-devil'  teams  to go into battle areas to retrieve civilian
and, sometimes, military bodies to bury or to take  back  to  the
city morgue. The morgue was always full during those days. In the
city, there was another youth group organized by the  Red  Cross,
and we competed with them in collecting the wounded and the dead,
along with other war trophies.  One time we collected a  "broken"
bomb  and  decorated  it  as a gate for our refugee camp.  It was
quite a deterrent for those who passed through that gate.

The war also took a personal toll in my life. My very first  cub-
master  was  blown  up  in his Jeep from an ambush. I went to his
funeral without seeing his face since there were nothing left  to
see. The second cubmaster was killed and left behind his pregnant
wife and two small girls. The third cubmaster  spent  almost  ten
year  in  the  re-education  camps. My first patrol leader volun-
teered for Airborne division at the age of 17, and came back in a
light casket.  His mother told me that after he was killed in the
DMZ area, he had to wait for a few months for  transport  of  his
body  back  home...  There  were  so many Vietnamese Scouts in my
area that I know never made it to 18th  year  birthday.  Frankly,
without Scouting, it would be very hard for me to find solace for
those senseless killings. Looking back, I admired all of my Scout
leaders.  They  were true men (unfortunately, I never had any fe-
male leaders, even at cub age) of their word,  who  lived  up  to
Scout  promises  and  Scout  laws.   At times, they weighed their
lives light as a feather, but sometimes, as heavy as the  biggest
mountain in the north.  At that time, deserting from the Army was
rampant, but I rarely saw or heard of Scouts were deserters.

Even in that bloody environment, I had a  blast  when  I  was  in
Scouting.  I  had so much opportunities to learn about myself and
about other people. Nowhere else in life have I found  such  deep
and emotional relationships. It was not unusual that my whole pa-
trol attended Christmas mass with one Catholic member, although 6
out  7  members  were  Buddists.  My favorite patrol member was a
Chinese who came to the Scout meeting with Chinese  goodies  from
his  father.  Many times my patrol went camping near the National
Military Academy so that at night times, we  could  look  at  the
sky,  watching  the  yellow flares in searching for communist in-
truders. During teen age, I traveled up and  down  the  coast  of
Vietnam,  hitch  hiking with two other Scouts to the Delta areas.
We spent two days in a notorious, scary Cambodia village near the
border  with Vietnam, and had a chance to observe how people were
trafficking at the border. A few times, my troop went camping out
of town by trekking to the military airstrip. We got in there be-
cause we knew well the soldiers at  the  entry  post.  Besides  I
heard  that the American Senior Military Advisor there was also a
former eagle Scout. We waited for the  next  empty  cargo  plane,
asked  the  pilot  where is his next stop, then asked for a ride.
Many times we had to camp at the dirt spot nearby. It was  adven-
turous and a lot of fun, and a lot of disapointment too.

During the Spring offensive of 1972, I went to the national  jam-
boree with more than 10,000 Scouts camping in one of the very hot
spots near Saigon.  The GI Star and Stripes newspaper  called  it
the  "Warboree".  Every  night, there were skirmishes between two
ranger batailons and the local communists from  the  neighborhood
village.(It  was possible that some of the local boys also parti-
cipated in the Jamboree). The opening night  was  festooned  with
"Fire  Dragons"  tracers,  shot  from  C-47  aircraft circulating
ahead. Laying their backs on a  green  grass  field,  the  Scouts
tried  to  decifer  beautiful  colors  from  different flares, or
'pfuff pfuff' noise from different types of gunship  helicopters.
Unforgettable experiences!!

The Boy Scouts of Vietnam Association, ceased officially to exist
as  a  member  of the World Scout Bureau when the communists took
over the South in 1975, but thousands of  Vietnamese  still  join
Scout  organizations  in  the country they resided in. Many Scout
units were formed in the refugee camp  in  Philippine,  Malaysia,
Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong.  I believe in France, there is
an official Vietnamese  Scout  Association  operating  under  the
Scout  Federation  of France. It is estimated that there are more
than 3000 Vietnamese Scouts in Vietnamese Scout units world-wide.

In 1990, we had the Third International  Vietnamese  Jamboree  in
Cutter  Camp, Boulder Creek, California, with more than 700 Viet-
namese Scouts from 6 countries. The event was also to commemorate
the 60th anniversary of the Boy Scout of Vietnam.

Interview at Chartered

Monday went Chartered Semiconductors interview at 6pm. and I was dulan with my dad for hiding my shoe... Made me late.... Damn pissed on the mrt and it was a long journey. Some memories of me being at that area. Sungei Buloh? Had to take a cab there and the place was huge with lots of cars and taxi and factory buildings. Industrial area and the interview was ok though I dun think she was impressed and I was not excited about the job either. Was running to the Fab 6 and panting when speaking to the HR lady. OL playing with the projector...

The way home saw on a really old bus. And the factory was very near the causeway. The road opposite was jam with huge lorries...

Tues went Ang Soon Yiap house to format his com. Purple room and saw his wife. The com was ok but had a SiS integrated 32MB graphics....

Visiting NYP and RI

Went back to NYP and visit the Japanese store in the food court. The food court is under Koufu now and layout is different and the uncle and aunt at the Japanese food store still recognize me. Say I am fatter and aunt say she is thinner and her children is 5 years old... And I saw they had been visited by the TV programme looking for good campus food on Channel 8 with Felicia Chin. Had my Chicken omelette and fired chicken strips as usual. It was NYP Openhouse BTW.

And also went to visit my micro-electronics lecturer. Saw new computers in the EDA lab and also computers are now running Windows XP in the e-learning hub. Last time used to be Win2K. Talked to my lecturer and asked about how she is and she still remembers that I am too relaxed and always late for class. Gave me some advice on finding work too and told me that new batch of students graduating soon and they taking in more wafer fab students. And she just came back from long leave.

Great to see them again. But the place has changed a lot although some things still remain. Great to be able to talk to them again and see that they are well.

Then went back to RI. Was walking to RI and saw Mrs. Tan, the fierce one and who told me Mrs. Tan Mui Hong was on MC.

And they had new Sony camcorders and were unpacking them in the dry box. Rained quite heavy in afternoon. One had loan a Macbook Pro from the school and they were using the new computer labs for lessons. Got into a small fight with Weijian with wooden stick. Stupid guy kicked me. Manek has a iPod Touch. Zewei was trying to get DNS to work on their server. Compiz works on Fedora. Haiz they are so fortunate to have all this gadgets.... I still remember the Sony digital camera last time we use that store on floppy... And saw the sec 2s who just came back from OBS on Ubin. My juniors really gave me mixed feelings. They are not bad but too damn messy and cant even tell me what category they in for Cyberfair... Paint all over the floor on the top level of the atrium and I saw that they were emptying the Internet Lab. Robotic lab was nice. lol Autobot or Decepticon

And oh ya it was Junior Raffesian Investiture that day. Went to try the Bak Chor Mee at J8 Basement. Its ok. The Hong Kong Cafe there very popular

Back to Ubin after 6 years

The last time I was on the island, I got sent back on a ambulance haha... Still remember that stupid day at Chek Jawa with Barnabas and Beow... Still remember the paramedic asking me questions. the doctor who was from RI? and the morphine? And being x-ray and of course the police post in a container box and the anti-piracy posters...

BTW slept quite early the day before and woke up at 6am and read a lot of Engadget's coverage of CES 2008. Then had porridge at the new Vietnam eats store at the coffee shop downstairs and then took a MRT to Pasir ris and I was late already and then took bus 109 to Changi Village and met up with Chong Yi and Bao Lun and they ate already. Then we went to the jetty. And this huge bunch of kids were there and looked closer and realised they are from Boon Lay Sec. They going some chalet?

BTW board the boat and its still $2. LOL not like cab fare hike. Reached there quite fast. The jetty still looks the same. the malay store was closed. And there is a visitor centre now and we went to take the map. Then rent a bicycle for $4 and no need for IC. And went to the HSBC volunteer centre thing and ask for the low tide time and it's 1800hrs

So Chong Yi suggested we cycle to the west side of the island first. Some temple there. And Bao Lun was wearing slippers and Chong yi black socks. BTW Bao Lun was changing and we went to check out a temple nearby. There was no caretaker and two uncles, one indian, one chinese was praying? Shaking the bottle with bamboo lots?

Saw a couple of temples and even a pond with lots of tortoise and some big mouth fish and a wooden bridge that looks scary and also old prawn ponds.

Went to the western end and ride round this cycling park. People fishing and saw some juniors from RI... asked them if they were sec 3s and also saw people fishing and also some chalet place. And found the German girl shrine. And on the way back, went to buy a drink from a uncle near some open air goddess of mercy temple. And we asked him about these roots he was drying and told us that its wild ginseng and its good and that he is going Taiwan to teach people there to cultivate it.

And we reach the west end and saw the demolished temple and saw some juniors from Infocomm club. Saw some birds at the quarry and went thru some fence into a really beautiful quarry. Looks really abandon as the steep road has completely eroded into a small river/waterfall that flows into the quarry.

And also people fishing at one of the prawn ponds and catching a catfish.

Then went back to the main town to eat lunch and had fried rice and fried baby sotong and then I saw Robin Quek from my sec 4 class with a gal. And it rained so we sat there for quite low and I talked to Robin and his friend while we wait for the train to stop.

Then about 2-3pm, we set off for Chek Jawa. The bicycle trail there was even worse lots of pits and rocky muddy track and halfway there it started to drizzle again and we found a shelter and then it rained really heavily... we waited at the shelter for the rain to stop and fed lots of mosquitoes.

Reached there and the house was nice and the jetty extended quite far. No wild boar though. And cant see much anemones... The number I saw can count with one hand. But Chek Jawa was so huge. Lots of crabs though. Can see the island far away and lots of fishes. The mangrove walk is quite long and saw Robin there. Took us to places I did not go last time. Saw lots of Nipah/Attap palm and also tadpoles. Could see Tekong from the jetty and the view at the tower was not bad but it rally high up and scary and feels like it shakes... Saw lots of fiddler crabs. Took us quite long to walk back and the tide was quite low. It was about 5.30pm and the Nparks guys were trying to release some fishes back to the sea but dump them too low and the tide was going down.... Chek Jawa is really a habitat that combines many shore/sea/mangrove ecosystems. Saw this triangular plates at the eastern end. Wonder what is it.

Then we were leaving Check Jawa and Chong Yi's bicycle chain broke.... Lucky the pins was still in but the eyelets opened up. Stupid lousy bicycle. Felt like we got cheated by the uncles renting bicycle... cost us $4... BTW took us quite a while to fix it. Had to call my brother for some help to put the chain back properly. We were gonna give up and I went back to Chek Jawa and was gonna get a Ubin cab to come. They all use green plate and start with PU.

But luckily Bao Lun and Chong Yi managed to fix the chain or else its $12 for the cab... And it did not break when we were cycling back! and the slopes were steep, rocky and REALLY long. I nearly freaked out and fall down. It was DAMN scary. I had to get down and push and my butt was really painful.

Reached back at the main town and the bike shop was already closed so we left the bikes outside and some of the seafood stores were just opening. And a police jeep at the visitor centre.

Took a boat at the jetty and this uncle caught lots of fish. Wonder whether it was the boat I saw at Pulau Sekudu And need to x-ray our bags by the police?

Went to Changi village to eat and walked around a bit. Lots of pubs and Bao Lun was asking about the carpark.... And its his first time at Ubin. Ate at the food centre. Had sugar cane, chicken chop, almond paste and BBQ Sotong.

Was damn full and took bus with Bao Lun to White Sands. Then we took MRT home. Got a call from Amos to go out but he went to sleep.
